Gravesend Aeromodelling Club (GAC) as an affiliated member of the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) respects your privacy and GAC will only use your information in the way as described in this notice. When using your information, GAC aim to be fair and transparent and to follow any obligations under UK data protection laws. Your information is used for administering club membership, activities and competitions. GAC are making no changes from the way we currently use your information.

GAC will collect your information when you fill in (for example) membership application/renewal forms, BMFA insurance certificate, competition entry forms. This can be on paper, electronically or online. The information you give GAC may include your contact details (name, address, telephone number, email address etc.), personal information and identifiers (date of birth, BMFA number etc.) and other information (frequency, Facebook member, WhatsApp etc.).

When you give GAC information about a third party, such as a child, parent or guardian, or emergency contact, you should let that person know you have given GAC that information.

If you are under 18 years old GAC will also ask for information from your parent or guardian.


GAC use your information when you first apply to become a member of GAC, and then to administer your club membership and provide you with member benefits: this information becomes the basis of a contract which exists between yourself and GAC. GAC may also publish basic information on you in the newsletter or event program including but not limited to results of competitions which will be in the public domain.

The information you provide GAC will form the basis for the contract between yourself and the GAC aeromodelling club.

GAC might use your information to send you details of other clubs’/organisations’ events. We will not sell your information to a third party.

To support your relationship with Aeromodelling and GAC we may keep some of your information for one year after your membership ceases, unless you ask us to delete it.


GAC may share some of your information with the BMFA as demanded by its insurance requirements, and other BMFA registered clubs for the purpose of taking part in their activities or any other person if we have to comply with a legal obligation. GAC may also share some of your information with service providers, for example to print an event programme/entry list. Please see the BMFA privacy policy at


When you use our club website, GAC may collect information about you, in particular your IP address by using cookies. There is no obligation to accept this and the website works without accepting the use of cookies. Non-members have access to the website and may be able to view basic information on you such as names and photos. No personal information other than the for mentioned is visible by anyone other than authorised committee members for the purpose of operating the club.

The club website may contain links to other websites such as model related activities and payment sites. If you follow links to other websites, please review the privacy policy for each site because we are not responsible for information you share on these sites.


Your electronic information is held securely by GAC on a server behind a firewall with anti-virus protection and other appropriate security measures. Your information collected on paper is destroyed after being transferred to an electronic storage medium. We have taken all reasonable steps and have in place appropriate security measures to protect your information. Your information is not transferred by us outside the European Union.


A. You may ask GAC not to process your information, in which case we will be unable to continue the contract between yourself and the GAC/BMFA. It automatically follows that you will cease to be a member of GAC/BMFA and lose any benefits therefrom.

B. You are entitled to a copy of the information GAC hold about you and to ask GAC to correct any inaccuracies.

C. You may ask GAC to stop using your information and to delete it. If you ask GAC to do this GAC will not be able to continue the contract between yourself and the GAC/BMFA. It automatically follows that you will cease to be a member of GAC/BMFA and lose any benefits therefrom.

D. By not signing the declaration below, it is assumed you do not wish your information to be used as described above. In this case, the contract between GAC and yourself is cancelled and you will cease to be a member of GAC/BMFA E. You may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner (
